It’s been a week and I haven’t posted anything about the Peterson family reunion. Shame on me.

Start with the group shot:

Peterson Family Reunion 2008

2008-08-15 005Last weekend at Westward Ho campground in Glenbuelah, WI, many Peterson descendants gathered and formed our own wagon train of campers. Most arrived on Thursday for a long weekend of near-perfect weather. Our first foray to a private campground allowed everyone to interact much more than in the past (at various state parks). We shared food, conversation, kitchen utensils, and fire.

The actual reunion on Saturday started off with a handicapped kickball game where much fun was had by all. Adults had various handicaps (arm slings, baskets, etc.) and had to run the bases backwards. Like a real baseball game, the crowd did the wave (thanks, Mari) and sausage races were run. I still have a scrape on my knee where someone clearly knocked me down…(OK, it was really self-inflicted)

The group meal was a hit with two large temporary shelters covering much of the group helping to keep the sun out. Desserts were plentiful and delicious.

I took a bunch of pictures and posted them to my Flickr account. They’re incredibly random; if you were around when I had my camera out, you might be in a picture. Check them out HERE.

Kudos to Roy and Joanie for coordinating everything for the 10th anniversary edition of the Peterson reunion. Also thanks to the chefs Tim, Curt, and undoubtedly others who manned the deep fryers and grills so the rest of us could eat scrumptious fried foods.

Great times had by all!

In case you were there and wondered how you’re related to someone else, take a gander at the following kinship chart. It’s available on most genealogical sites. Start with the common ancestor and find yourself and the other person on either a row or column. The intersection point is how you and the other person are related. I’ve clipped it to 5 generations for space reasons.
