We just returned from the Marshall High School fall sports awards and recognition night. There was much to be proud of as the football team was conference co-champions, the boys and girls cross country teams both went to state, and the volleyball team, um, played their hearts out all season.
It’s for the final sport that we attended since Hannah was a member of the Junior Varsity team. She set a goal this summer to make JV and was very excited when she got the nod during the first week of practice. They were competitive throughout the season and won about as many as they lost. During the awards tonight, we were pleasantly surprised when Hannah was named MVP of the JV team. She’s a talented player with enough energy and enthusiasm that made her a key member of the team.
As you may recall from previous blog posts, she also suited up and got to play in most Varsity matches. The team struggled this year, but improved a bit over previous years. Hannah played mostly in the last games of the matches, but would occasionally make an appearance in earlier games. Not only was it a great learning experience, she played in enough games to earn her Varsity letter. She was thrilled! (OK, we were pretty happy, too.) Here’s a picture of her with her big, new “M.”
