Text totals

The girls each received an early Christmas present of a cell phone and they were added to our family plan. US Cellular also offers a reasonably-priced family-wide unlimited text messaging plan so we signed up for that, too. We hadn’t really used text messaging before, but the girls used it a bit on their previous pay-as-you-go phones. Wanting to be as cost-effective as possible, they immediately embarked on a quest to get their money’s worth.

Here are the outgoing text message totals for the latest partial billing period (8 days shy of a month):
Pat – 17
Monica – 20
Hannah – 2,227
and your winner, Clare – 4,022

Yes, those are only outgoing totals. Since incoming messages are free, they aren’t tallied anywhere. You can only imagine what the in+out total is.

While I still think pay-as-you-go plans are a good idea, they really don’t work for teenage girls. This is clearly how they communicate.
