Another 20

random image of lots 'o bikesI had a chance to take advantage of another balmy(?) day and hop on the bicycle for a bit today. Hannah had a 2-hour volleyball practice in Madison, so I thought I’d get some riding in.

From MATC I headed about 2 miles to Lake Monona and hit the path that loops the lake. It’s a leisurely 13-mile jaunt, relatively flat, and you’re certain to come across other joggers/bikers along the way.

Everything was going along great until I got to the part where the bike path is right next to the open lake. Did I mention there’s a thin layer of ice still covering most of the lake? Swell. When the wind blows across that ice and hits your bare skin it is VERY, very cold. It must have been 20 degrees cooler during that 1/2 mile stretch. Cold is definitely a motivating factor. Hustle up and get back on the streets!

Fore! I had to add a couple of miles at the end to hit 20 miles for the day, but that was pretty easy to do. I went up the path near MATC over to Bridges golf course and back. On this fair weather day there were plenty of die-hard golfers on the links. I’ll be joining them in about a month when league starts.
