16×9 Video Part II

In case you were wondering (riiiiiight), I use Windows Movie Maker to edit the videos you see on the site. It allows someone to, rather easily, add titles, transitions, additional audio, etc.

One of the things I hadn’t noticed before was the ability for Windows Movie Maker to publish the project as a 16×9 video. This eliminates the letterbox (black strips) that you see on the top and bottom of the 16×9 video when viewed in a video player like Windows Media Player. Cool beans. That means I’m good on my end. Now what about the interweb?

Naturally, the wide screen format conflicts with what YouTube expects. They specialize in the old 4×3 format and squish your uploaded video to fit that spec.

But wait! Google Video looks like it does a little better job with wide screen videos.
Does this look any better?

I think it does. I’ll stick with this for a while (if I remember all the steps I went through).
