Proving that it’s dangerous to “try out” a new piece of software, I innocently started playing with a free photomosaic image generator. Why? Couldn’t tell you. But it’s kind of cool.
It uses a library of images to create a mosaic of another image you specify. In the example below, I used their stock library of images to create a mosaic of the ladies on the first day of school. (Will 2008 be the year Mom is the shortest of the bunch?) I did the same thing with the library of images that contains all of the pictures we’ve taken over the years, but it didn’t look as nice.

I had to shrink the images quite a bit to get them to fit in this window appropriately. The originals look way better.
The software I used is called AndreaMosaic, available here. Did I mention it’s free? Definitely worth checking out.
