Pardeeville 3-on-3 basketball tournament

Hannah participated in her first 3-on-3 basketball tournament on Saturday morning in Pardeeville. These are interesting in that all members of the team must contribute. Because there are so few players on the court, there are no decoys, no lounging along the baseline, no resting with your hands on your knees. Move and look for the ball. Played on a half-court, it tends to be more physical since there’s less running up and down the court.

The Marshall youth league team of 8th-grade girls that participated broke up and played as one team of 3 and one team of 4. Sixteen minute games every 20 minutes in a double-elimination tournament with 6 teams total.

To make a long story short, Hannah’s team won the tournament! Unbelievable! All teams were pretty evenly matched with few fouls being called. Here is a pic of your winning team:

Lots of video to sort through. Found a couple of clips of Hannah making some shots.

EDIT: I just realized that you can’t really see the players’ numbers in the micro version of this video. As you can see in the above photo, Hannah is wearing the white T-shirt.

Long story: We win 3 games to get to the championship game and play the winner of the losers bracket. But there’s only time for one game. So, if we lose this one game, we come in second? How does that make sense? Anyway, it’s a close game that ENDS UP IN A TIE. What are the odds? They resort to team free throws; everybody on each team shoots once. We could lose this on free throws? Hannah goes first and makes hers. Other team misses. Mel shoots and makes hers. They miss again, we’re up 2-0 with two more shooters on each team. They miss again (not sure why they’re shooting), so they can only make a max of 1 and we already have 2. Game over. Culver’s gift certificates to the winners. Woohoo!
